Bumper Stickers

A bumper sticker is a popular car accessory designed to stick onto the bumper and be read by passersby. The standard size of a bumper sticker is 8cm x 30cm (8in x 30in), although irregularly shaped stickers are also available. A bumper sticker often contains humorous messages of a political, religious, or commercial nature, or simply the owner's name, address, and other personal details.

Bumper sticker application

A bumper sticker should be able to withstand various weather conditions, but still be easily removed without damaging the bumper surface. Most bumper stickers have a weather-resistant adhesive, but this usually dissolves over time. Removing this type of bumper sticker usually requires the use of oil, paint thinner, or other household substances that can dissolve the adhesive. Recently, manufacturers introduced the magnetic bumper sticker, which could be removed and relocated any time.

Other applications

Bumper stickers are often applied to places other than the bumper, such as the body, dashboard, and rear windows. While there are no regulations on the stickers themselves, it is usually illegal to place a bumper sticker where it could cause distraction. This includes the central part of the rear window, the rearview and side mirrors, and the direct front of the windshield.

Choosing bumper stickers

Many people choose bumper stickers that reflect their personality and opinions. If you're getting an identification bumper sticker, make sure it's easily readable and visible. Aesthetically speaking, a bumper sticker should complement the color of your car, although it's possible to pull off clashing colors.
